The Teeter EP-950 Inversion Table, which comes with the Ergo Embrace Ankle System, is one of Teeter’s top-of-the-line models and is one of the top-rated inversion tables on the market today. Personally, I really like the EP-950 and highly recommend it for several reasons.
Advantages of The EP-950
- Made by Teeter – i.e. it’s the top of the line product made by the best company in the industry, and it shows. The EP950 is extremely easy to use, extremely sturdy, and is one of the best-built tables you will find in the inversion industry
- Ratchet Ankle Lock System – making it easy for anyone to get in and out of the inversion table without having to bend over too much
- Traction handles come standard with this model
- Very easy to assemble
Disadvantages
- The only disadvantage is that the Teeter Gravity Boots will not work with this system
Teeter Hang Ups EP-950 Inversion Table Review
Ease of Use
As stated above, you won’t find an easier inversion table to use than the EP-950 by Teeter. One thing that I really like is how smooth you can go from flat position to full-inversion and back again. The mechanics of the machine are perfect, allowing you to concentrate on fixing your back and stretching out your muscles. As with almost all of Teeter’s inversion tables, you can fully invert (i.e. hang freely at a 90 degree angle) – which allows you to perform inverted situps and other inverted exercises with ease and without worry. Basically, as with all tables by Teeter Hang Ups, you are getting a very easy to use table. Even putting it together is very easy and takes about 1/4 the time of other inversion tables.
Features
The EP-950 comes loaded with features, making it one of the the top rated inversion tables for 2012:
- Ankle Locking System. This is an extended handle that is located where you strap your ankles in, and allow you to easily reach and adjust the locking system.
- Ergo Embrace System for your Ankles. One thing about inversion therapy – it can be uncomfortable on your feet. Teeter has designed a system that is the best in the business in terms of making it as comfortable as possible for you to hang. They do this by distributing the weight across the heel and foot areas. They also reduce pressure on your ankles with the foam cup that surrounds them.
- Flex technology (patented by Teeter) that allows you to stretch and move in a more natural and greater range of motion. The pillow is even adjustable for extra comfort. This is especially nice if you purchase the Vibration Cushion that comes with a heated neck pillow (review coming soon).
- Traction Handles. You can use the handles to give you a little extra stretch while inverted, or to perform intermittent traction and/or oscillation therapy. Not all machines come with these standard
- Ability to pre-set how far you will invert. There is a tether strap that allows you to stop your inversion at the 20, 40, or 60 degree angle (most of the benefits of inversion therapy are achieved once you invert 60 degrees)
Quality
The Teeter EP-950 is built like a tank. At 74 lbs it’s definitely not lightweight – and that’s what we want in a good inversion table. It is built to hold people that are between 4 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 6 inches in height, and who weight up to 300 lbs. In addition, Teeter is the only company whose tables pass UL 1647 standards (learn more about those standards here)(articles coming soon). This is very important – if an inversion table breaks it is not just an annoying occurance – it can hurt you. With the Teeter EP950, you won’t have to worry about that.
Customer Reviews
Customers LOVE the Teeter EP-950 inversion table. For example, on Amazon.com there is only 1 (1) star review – and that review is only negative because they didn’t like inversion therapy. They liked the table and said that it’s extremely durable. If you shop on Amazon a lot (like I do), then you will know how hard it is to find a product with only 1 negative review.
Our Bottom Line Teeter Hang Ups EP-950 Review:
We really, really like the 950 model. This model is built for the home owner who:
- Wants the full advantage of inversion therapy (hang completely upside down, hang at specific angles, etc.)
- Wants to be able to do some core workouts (hard-core workout-ers will want to get the EP-550 Sport model)
- Is uncomfortable bending over to adjust the ankle straps or who has limited mobility
- Wants a sturdy table that won’t fall apart
- Ankles hurt using other inversion tables – this is one of the most comfortable models you can buy
The main advantage of the Teeter EP-950 vs the EP-550 is the ankle locking system. If you have a hard time bending over because of your back pain, then this is a great model (as long as you are fit for inversion therapy in the first place). You also get the traction handles standard, the extra large normal handles, and the Ergo Embrace Ankle system, which you don’t get on the standard EP-550 model.
However, one drawback to the EP-950 is that you CANNOT CONVERT THE TABLE TO BE USED WITH GRAVITY BOOTS. If you are looking for something that really lets you do core workouts, then 1) you probably don’t have the bending over issue, and 2) you should probably look at the EP-550 Sport Inversion Table.
Price / Place to Buy the Teeter Hang Ups EP-950:
Right now you can get a great price on the table either from Amazon.com or Inversiontables.com. MSRP is $549, but you can get if for less than $400 at either location.
